(Greyed out songs) Issues Importing an XML Apple Music Library Export to Apple Music
Hello, I am freaking out a little bit… I am having issues importing my .xml library export file into Apple Music (on my MacBook Pro running Monterey 12.0.1 ). When I do this, all of the songs are greyed out- sometimes the cloud status is waiting and others it shows an error. I have scoured the internet and everything I’ve found does not work.
This is the best list of all the Troubleshooting Steps I have taken.
Assuming no one has a fix, I’m trying to think of workarounds…
· Theoretically, should I be able to edit the .XML file (delete all songs in the library that aren’t in a playlist (using IDs for the playlists and songs)) and have the import function work properly? And If so, can anyone give me advice on how best to do this? Like converting the .XML to an AppleScript database (Database Events) and somehow going through and get rid of songs not in playlists and reconstructing the .XML file? IDK, im very new to AppleScripts, hence not trying yet.
· Worst case scenario… If I need to manually add all of the songs, how can I print/view a list of all playtlists? The print option in Apple Music doesn’t do this for all playlists and if I select a folder, it doesn’t capture all playlists in that folder. If I do this though, I would also need to update all of the info like ratings, loved, etc… so I could probably write a script that does this? So… I probably need to understand .XML and AppleScripts a bit better, right?
Sorry for the excessive amount of information, but this is EXTREMELY important to me. I have playlists dating back to 10+ years ago including mix tapes to/from friends/exes, a playlist I compiled for my friends funeral, and so many more extremely sentimental ones. I’m glad I can still see the songs in case I need to manually add everything, BUT 1. That is so much work given the number of playlists I have. 2. I would lose all of my play counts, loves, ratings, etc…
Apple is such an incredible company with better than average support, BUT this has been an absolute NIGHTMARE. I’m serious when I say 9+ hours JUST ON THE PHONE WITH THEM, not including all of my own troubleshooting and attempts to fix. I am constantly repeating myself or saying I’ve already troubleshot something. At this point, I’m telling them to take 10-15 min to read all of the notes so I can do my own things while they catch up.
Please Please PLEASE help. I just need to know where I stand so if it’s hopeless, I can start reconstructing my library…
Thank you so much in advance!
