Refund On My Purchase

A couple months ago I purchased Microsoft Word through the App Store. I quickly tired cancelling it but it failed to cancel. I talked to Microsoft support and told them what had happened. They approved my refund request and said it would take 2-3 business days to get back my refund. It's been over a month and I feel like it has something to do with the fact I purchased word through apple. Would the refund still go through if I got it from the App Store. or did they lie to me about giving me a refund ?
