bookmarks, favorites, or other.. how do users save website urls now?

In switching from an older iPhone to a new SE it seems ive lost the ability to save websites as "favorites" or "bookmark" sites. To be honest i don't even remember the difference between these two, but i don't see the option to do either, or anything similar on the SE. Is there a way? It used to be that from Safari, while at a site, one could click an icon at the bottom of the screen and there would be an "add to favorites" or something, but there's nothing like that now. why is such a basic function so hard to find or no longer available? It seems with each new generation of iPhone there are more things i don't want, and the things i want and need are harder to find. Its a shame.

iPhone SE, iOS 14

The similarity and difference between Bookmarks and Favorites in my opinion:

At Bookmarks you pin webpages to check every now and then if you need, a kind of memory aid.

At Favorites, you save webpages that you visit more often, maybe daily.

Depending on what meaning one gives to those two words.
