How to split my apple account into two accounts?

Several years ago I bought an iPad for my grandson and connected it using my Apple account. Now he is all grown up and I would like to have my separate account. If I create a new account for my grandson, he will loose all the games and apps he bought and installed in all these years. If I create a new account for myself, I don't worry about apps - I did not buy too many and I can buy it again, but then he will have an account under my email and I will have to create a new email for my new account. Is there a way for me to keep my account with my email and create a new account for my grandson, but to have all his apps transferred into his new account?

Merging Apple accounts (IDs) or transferring data is not officially supported, nor can it be done easily or completely.

Look into using Family Sharing to continue to be able to use items purchased with one Apple ID with other Apple IDs.

Fortunately when you sign out of one ID and sign in with a different one it asks you in most cases if you wish to retain the data from it on your device. Say yes and then delete individual items you do not want.
