Installing Rosetta 2 on this system is not supported.

I am using an Apple Silicon Mac, macOS Monterey 12.0.1

I am able to run Intel Applications. When I open one I am not prompted to install Rosetta. So it seems that Rosseta 2 is installed. However when I run:

softwareupdate --install-rosetta

I get the following response which is weird:

Installing Rosetta 2 on this system is not supported.

Also if I Get info an app I cannot see the option to open it with Rosseta. How can I resolve this issue?

Have you tried installing Rosetta 2 while in safe mode? How to use safe mode on your Mac If not, give that a try.
