Privacy Advice: "this network is blocking encrypted DNS traffic", why?

Hi.

i've noticed this privacy advice when i'm connected to my home's wi-fi network.

it only happens on 5,0 Ghz, not in 2,4. my modem-router is a Fritzbox 7590.

it's my home wi-fi and it has WPA2 (CCMP). i'm really careful so i don't know what is causing this. should i be worried?

i'm using bitdefender security on iOS which is a vpn, if that matters.

Hello MaleMela,

Thanks for reaching out through the Apple Support Communities about that network prompt.

Do you get that prompt when connected to any other Wi-Fi networks?

Does that prompt still persist if you temporarily disable your VPN?

Have you had the opportunity to review your router’s settings per the recommendations in this article? Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points

Hopefully those details will help to further isolate this behavior.

Take care.

Hi chuckbl, thanks for your reply,

that prompt still persists if i temporarily disable my VPN. it both shows on my 2,4 ghz and 5,0 ghz ssid.

i haven't tried with another wi-fi network yet.

i tried to make my iphone forget the wi-fi and associate it again; at first the prompt disappeared but now it returned.

i checked my router's settings, i tried to reset it too.

MaleMela,

Testing with another Wi-Fi network would be the best way to see if that behavior is isolated to your particular network.

If that prompt only occurs while connected to your network, you may need to reach out to the manufacturer of your router, or your internet service provider if the router was supplied by them, to see if they are able to help further with adjusting the settings.

Regards.
