MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2014) unable to update to Big sur Why?

Last upgrade on my old mac is OS X 10.9 Mavericks, and i am trying to upgrade to the latest compatible available to this model is Big Sur. However, its not happening tried upgrading to monetery it directs me to apple store, typed in macOS Big Sur but no softawre comes up.

How do i upgrade?

Someone had same issue?

Help please

officially you first need to upgrade from mavericks to el capitan before upgrading to big sur. i have also seen it recommended here that you should upgrade from el capitan to high sierra before moving up to big sur.

It appears that Apple has removed the App Store links for Big Sur and so, one cannot upgrade to it (or I suspect any OS prior to Monterey) without obtaining the installer from either the Apple Store in person or an authorized Apple seller and tech support shop.


Sorry. I know I have the Big Sur installer for v11.6.1 (full installer); but I keep that for such cases as this for personal use.
