Screen for Macbook Air 2017

Apple Support has an article about screens for Macbook https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT210105.

I am thinking to buy the screen mentioned in this article (23.7-inch LG UltraFine 4K Display) for my Macbook Air 13 inch -2017.

The article refers that the screen is compatible with Macbook Air introduced in 2018 or later - will a 2017 Macbook Air really become a problem?

If yes, what alternative screen is recommended for MAcbook Air 2017?

You can connect your MacBook Air (13-inch, 2017) with Thunderbolt 2 to the LG UltraFine 4K display, but you'll need a Thunderbolt 3 to Thunderbolt 2 adapter in order to do so. Your MacBook Air is capable of powering the display at its full 3840-by-2160 resolution at 60Hz with support for millions of colors. You'll also need a Thunderbolt 2 cable for your MacBook Air, as the Thunderbolt 3 cable included with the display isn't compatible with your device.
