Disabling all appleid recovery keys

On the icloud web interface it shows the recovery key as "active". So I generated a new recovery key on my phone, then disabled it. Does this render all recovery keys invalid? I want to disable all recovery keys and allow for normal account recovery. Thanks!

Your AppleID can only have one recovery key.

On your iPhone, go to settings, tap your name at the top, then tap Password & Security, then tap Account recovery. Under Recovery Key, does it say on, or off?

Every time you create a new recovery key, it replaces the previous one.

Good, then now you would have to use the online automated recovery process to recover your AppleID.

Given that, be sure you have a secondary email address associated with your AppleID as backup contact to your primary email, and a backup SMS capable telephone number would be good to include as well, again as backup means of sending you information during recovery. In the USA you can get a Google voice number and use that as you can read SMS texts to it in any web browser from your Google voice account login.
