Export current wallpaper image

My wife passed away recently and I want to use her wallpaper image on my own phone. How do I export it to an image file so I can preserve it? Her phone is an iPhone 12.

iPhone XR, iOS 15

I've wanted to know the answer to this question in the past as well. Basically she had a wallpaper on her phone. But you can't find that specific photo anywhere. But you want it so you can use it.

Best thing would be the check and see if the photo is saved on her photo album. And then from there send it to yourself. If she deleted the picture then it might be impossible to get the picture.

Or who knows, maybe someone knows how to export a wallpaper into a photo again.

Thank-you. Unfortunately, wallpaper images are not stored or available using iCloud. They are stored in a private directory inside iPhones without normal access, apparently unless the phone has been "jailbroke". I have resorted to taking two home-screen captures and combining them in photoshop to remove all the overlay items, as was recommended on-line. Apparently you can also back-up your iPhone to a desktop and troll the internal directory structure for the relevant image. All this would be unnecessary if Apple were simply to provide an export link in settings where you select a new wallpaper.
