Can I use Terminal to save my screenshots to a folder on google drive if I link it to my desktop?

Can I use Terminal to save my screenshots (ss) to a folder on google drive if I link it to my desktop? I have already used terminal to create a folder on my iMac's desktop and have my ss landing there. Recently I got a new MacBook Pro and took some ss there and realized I will now have two folders collecting ss based on which computer I am working on. I use ss a lot to have a clip of a bill payment confirmation, order confirmation, etc. Having two folders on two different computers could complicate this tool.

It occurred to me that MAYBE I could create a folder on Google Drive and use terminal to set both computers to have their ss be stored there. Is that possible?

And as I type this, it occurs to me that maybe I can do this using iCloud? I just want the folder to be easy to get to when I want to look for a ss I saved.

Any advice?

You can create new folders in Finder.

If you're on any fairly recent macOS version, enter ⌘⇧5 to open the screenshot tool, and select options, and select the folder you want screen shots to use.

thank you for this suggestion. I do have the directions on how to create a folder and set it as the default storage for screenshots. I am hoping to learn if there is a way to have the folder live on either iCloud or Google Drive so I can save screenshots from both my iMac and my laptop in one place and avoid having a separate folder on each device with screenshots in them. Do you know if this is possible?

It's the same answer as above: ⌘⇧5 to open the screenshot tool, select Options, select Other Location, and select the iCloud Drive folder you want to use.

Use Finder to create a folder for screenshots in iCloud drive, if you want that.

As for redirecting the screenshots directly to Google Drive or some other hosted-storage path (and not to iCloud Drive), try it. I don't have Google apps installed, so have no way to test that.

If the hosted-storage path selected for the screenshot tool doesn't work, check with the app support folks for the particular cloud storage app in use.

There's probably a work-around using folder actions if the hosted-storage path doesn't work, but, well, saving screenshots to iCloud Drive works, so there's seemingly little reason for scripts, command-line commands, or such.

Can I use Terminal to save my screenshots to a folder on google drive if I link it to my desktop?
