TheIf you are unable to escape from Guided Access mode, press the Home and Power button together for 15 seconds. This should turn off Guided Access by forcibly rebooting your device. Once your device is restarted, you can then go to Settings > Accessibility > Guided Access > Guided Access - and turn off Guided Access if needed.

Having regained access, ensure that your iPad has been updated to iPadOS 15.1.

Thanks for your answer, unfortunately this is the new iPad Mini 6th generation which doesn't have the Home Button.

I ended up having to wait for the battery to go dead and the mini to power down. Once charge and powered up Guided Access was off and I am back in action.

Went in and changed guided access settings so this doesn't happen again.

A little gun shy though about using Guided Access again.
