Left click keeps bring up a dropdown menu. Why?

I'm using Logic Pro X (10.6.3) on a Mac mini (2018) with Big Sur.

When I used to left-click, eg. on a send or output to see its allocated aux channel that's all that would happen, ie. it would select only, NOW I get the dropdown menu of a right-click and it's driving me nuts! I can't seem to find out why or how to fix it.

Anyone?

PS this is with a Bluetooth Apple mouse or a 3rd party USB trackerball.

Is the ctrl-key stuck down?

Ctrl-click brings up the contextual menu.

I don’t know if there are any mouse settings to alter the buttons, but maybe worth looking there.

Do you have software installed for the 3rd-party trackball? Maybe it’s gone wonky?

I don't know if Big Sur is the same as Catalina, but have a look at System Preferences>Mouse and see if it's got set like this:

This would of course affect everything, so if it's only Logic Pro and nothing else then there may be a setting there. Also, my trackball settings allow different settings for different apps, so it might be to do with that (though I would have thought that that shouldn't affect the Apple mouse).

Yes, it does only seem to be within Logic. There are many functions in the programme, where left and right click does the same thing. In the main arrange window, however, they do different things - and the left/right clicks work fine... it seems to mostly be on the channel strip where this happens (sorry only really just realised that) - so it must be a Logic thing... whether a within the later version, or its compatibility with Big Sur. I just don't know - but it's very annoying and never did it on earlier versions/OS combos.

Is it possibly a press and hold issue on that particular element? Obviously just more guessing.

I don't use Logic, so it that seems to be where the issue resides, I can't do any testing.

It would be interesting if another Logic user sees the same thing.

Now that you think it is isolated to Logic, you might make a separate post (in a Logic oriented forum if available) with "Logic" in the title. You might get responses from people who use Logic-- which may result in, "yeah, it just does that."
