Garage Band Constantly Crashing and Corrupting Projects.

Hello, I have been in music production on GarageBand for a while now, and only recently have experienced this problem: Ill be working on a project and randomly I get this message, "An Audio Unit plug-in reported a problem which might cause the system to become unstable. Please quit and restart GarageBand." and my program crashes. Now, it's one thing to do just that, crash, however, it becomes extremely aggravating when upon trying to open up the project you are met with that same message and unable to ever open your project again. This has happened to AT LEAST 5 projects.

Now, though I have read various articles, too many might I add, all of them have served as no help (Even one that was in the 'Communities' support section).

I have been with GarageBand for a long time and have had no issues until right around the last update.

Hi natey680,

Sometimes third-party (non-Apple) software can cause issues,

especially if not compatible with the latest Mac OS.

ie: Apps, plug-ins etc., may need updating.

Else:

Wondering if there could be a memory / storage issue.

GarageBand may be using significant Mac energy, and you may also have other apps open ?

(Eg: Seems a Mac needs at least 50 Gb free, (on the Mac) in order to operate smoothly.)

Apple support have an article online that may help check..

How to check / free up storage space on your Mac:

https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT206996

And

You might want to view information about Mac processes in Activity Monitor

Hope this helps :-)
