Clamshell mode MacBook Pro 2021 Silicon

When connecting my MacBook Pro 2021 Silicon to an external monitor, how do I set it so that I can close the MacBook cover. Instructions on the Web call for going to system preferences and energy saver, but I don't see an energy saver option. The new option, battery, doesn't have an option for keeping the cover open.

I’m so confused. You can’t get this to work and I can’t disable it.

Its designed to never ever allow you to close the lid to put it to sleep if a second video source is connected. There’s no way to disable it and I think the design who made that decision is an authoritarian. It’s designed to keep the second monitor on even if you don’t want it to.

I would love to know how you broke it. I’ll pay you. I send feedback to Apple weekly for over two years begging them to add checkbox in setting to “disable clamshell mode” and apparently nobody at Apple has cats or does something besides watch a movie on their work laptop at the end of the day.
