Mac skips DEP enrollment page

Hello, I have a machine which is in apple business manager with an MDM server associated to it (and I am able to see it synced within my MDM provider) that refuses to go thru the DEP enrollment page upon fresh clean install of Monteray.

Initially, the enrollment page did appear, but I did not associate the device to an MDM server and got an error that stated it could not find an MDM server. So I went in to ABM and made the change. Upon reboot, it no longer connects to the enrollment page during set up. I have clean installed the operating system twice now and once I connect to the wifi it just skips the DEP enrollment page and goes straight into the data and privacy page.

This does not happen with my other macs just this one in particular.

Any ideas?

In case it is an issue with the hardware:

Try an SMC Reset and PRAM Reset if this is an Intel Mac.

If this is a 2018+ Mac with the T2 security chip or an M1 Mac, then try "Restoring" the firmware:

Revive or restore an Intel-based Mac using Apple Configurator 2 - Apple Support

Revive or restore a Mac with Apple silicon using Apple Configurator 2 - Apple Support

Are you using Erase All Content and Settings, or are you completely wiping the device and installing a new OS?

This is likely a beta issue which cannot be discussed here. I advise you to reach out to Apple Support or check out macadmins.org.

I have tried both multiple times. The start up process begins and after I enter the wifi creds it just skips DEP enrollment and goes straight to the data & privacy screen.

I see the macbook serial numbers in both my MDM and apple business manager.

It's driving me nuts!

Thank you for all the responses everyone.

Apologies for not being more clear.

It's a brand new M1 Max 16 inch macbook that I had to purchase from amazon. It's the reason I had to use the beta apple configurator for iphone in order to add it to our ABM for enrollment.

I have used the same beta app with my other cheaper m1 macbooks and they enrolled perfectly.

It's just this M1 Max that is causing me tremendous issues. The serial number appears exactly as its printed on the machine on my MDM server as well as ABM.

It just refuses to show the DEP enrollment. I have now tried ethernet, my verizon hot spot, etc. thinking perhaps maybe my wifi was messing up the sync. Nothing.

I guess I will chalk it up to beta being beta. It worked so well with my other machines thats why I was so confident to purchase this machine from amazon thinking I could add it to ABM! :(

I haven't seen this with any devices yet. You're 100% sure that the serial number isn't like 1 digit off? Like maybe an O got swapped for a 0?
