Iphone 'Other System Data' Issue

Greeting Everyone, I have been using iphone from last 5 years and I have seen many ios updates , the resolved issues and the new features introduced by Apple. But the thing that has been missing in all of those updates from ages is that they haven't addressed the issue i.e. after every update the data in the 'Other System Data' section increases and you have no option to view which app is causing it or how to get rid of it(big issue for those having limited storage). You can't do anything except waiting for a miracle i.e it at times decreases by itself.

P.S: I have read and watched all the videos regarding this issue like deleting safari cache or unused apps but all was unfruitful. If any apple representative is reading my answer kindly take this issue into consideration as well. Thanks.

Hello Incep,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities. Based on your post, you have higher 'Other System Data' than expected on your iPhone. We'll do our best to address this and how it's handled by the software.

'Other' data is everything that doesn't currently fit into the existing storage categories. Things such as, Settings, Profiles, Siri voices, system data, logs, and cached or streamed files.

Something important to note from: How to check the storage on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch is that "Your device automatically removes cached files and temporary files when your device needs more space." Based on your post, the iPhone has in the past created this needed space, when deemed necessary.

Higher System Data will occur if you've recently signed in to iCloud or set up your device. This expected behavior. Most of this data will be released after roughly 48 hours (given that iCloud has completed the sign in process and set up the device).

With that said, when is it unexpected behavior? If 'Other' storage remains high (about 10 GB or more) then the iOS is not purging that data as it should or the issue is actually with underreporting categories (Photos, iTunes artwork, Messages, etc).

If the device is low on storage and the 'other' category isn't making room for new data, that's when we'd recommend to contact Apple Support: Get Support

Hopefully this will help out, take care.
