We have an external display plugged in but what is the process for accessing the info on this computer with out the use of the broken screen? All other threads are from 8 years ago so just looking for updated information.

Command-BrightnessDown toggles the sense of the "Mirror displays" checkbox, which should change to a compromise resolution and show the Mac's built-in screen image mirrored to the External display. when pressed again, will change back to "extended desktop"

The external display works. The background screen from the Mac projects onto the external display no problem. The images are mirrored but I can't access the login screen to even get started as it is on the broken Mac screen. Need help accessing the home screen on the Mac but doing it from the external display.

Yeah the touch strip where the control for the keyboard brightness is black and not functioning. Any other ideas anyone?
Depends on what is "broken" as to whether or not you can use an external display.
