Mac Pro 2010 GPU upgrade

I have a 2010-2012 Mac Pro on High Sierra. I want to go to Mojave. I need a graphics card that supports metal. I only do Photoshop and Lightroom, nothing graphics heavy. What is the cheapest, workable graphics card that I can just pop in and do my OS upgrade?

Mac Pro, macOS 10.13

I think I can help you. here's a list of cards that will work and should work....

Just as a side-note....PC graphics cards that have been flashed to work with Mac will be fine in your 2010-2012 Mac Pro, along with the Mac native ones.... Right now, as I'm sure you know, graphics cards are in short supply and high demand, so prices for them are crazy..... I got a Radeon HD 7950 6 GB, flashed to work with Mac from eBay for about $300 CDN including shipping.... which may be your "best bet" for right now....

good luck

I have a 2009 MacPro 4,1 - flashed to 5,1 so it's virtually identical to a 2010-13 MacPro. Like you, I use Photoshop & Lightroom extensively and have swapped the dual 2.26GHz 4-core Nehalem CPUs for dual 3.46GHz Westmere CPUs.

To further the upgrade, I acquired a Radeon 7970 3GB PC card flashed to Mac for GB£185 (around US$250). It works perfectly and permitted the installation of Mojave via the App Store.
