iOS background activity for Music draining battery

Even after closing Apple Music, disabling music sync, and background app refresh for Music the battery drains quickly. All I use Music for is streaming a radio station, Lightning 100 while I'm in the car via Car Play and about a total of 20 minutes per day. It charges while in the car. So possibly something in the background caused by Car Play? In the end, I tried every solution I could find online and the problem continued. So, I had to remove the Apple Music app. Not an ideal solution, but better than a dead battery at the end of the day.

Hello CyberSnyder,

We're glad you thought to ask Apple Support Communities about the issue you're having with battery life when you had the Music app installed. Were you able to reinstall the app to see if a fresh copy helped to resolve the issue? If you haven't reinstalled it yet, be sure to check for available software updates first. If an update is available, back up your iPhone before updating:

Take care.

I tried deleting / reinstalling the Music app but had no luck with that process. Normally I can check logs to see what processes are doing, but on an iOS device it's an appliance / black box. Was considering setting up a wireless network where I could analyze the packets back and forth from the iPhone, but decided that deleting the app was, unfortunately, easier.
