Quick Note thumbnail not appearing (and other Quick Note features not working)

On Apple's list of of Monterey features, as well as every Monterey feature article and video I've seen, it's claimed that you can

Add links from an app to your Quick Note to create context. When you return to the same place in the app or website, a thumbnail of the Quick Note appears in the corner to remind you of what you noted earlier.

I've been trying and trying to make this work, and I have never once witnessed a Quick Note thumbnail appearing.

On top of that, the persistent highlights on Safari websites only actually show up if the Notes app is already open, which is pretty stupid. And on top of that, even if Notes is already open, it still seems to just not work sometimes at random.

Finally, the following two features Apple touts…

Available everywhere
Access Quick Note from anywhere in the system. You can be using any app or in full screen or Split View.

Adaptable
Adjust the size or position of a Quick Note.

…just seem completely pointless. Yes, you can open a Quick Note in full screen, but it doesn't open over the full screen app, as implied. It just opens a new Notes window in an available desktop space. So no **** you can adjust the size or position of a Quick Note, it's just a regular Notes window, like any other. Why wouldn't you be able to? In fact, the only difference I can tell between a Quick Note window and any other Notes window is that it doesn't appear in Mission Control or App Exposé. Which again, is dumb.

Am I the only one these things seem to be broken for? Apple doesn't note any particular system requirements for things like the thumbnails. This seems like the most broken-*** half-baked neglected feature I've ever seen touted in a new OS, unless it's just bugging out for me.

The idea of sendding feedback is the more feedback Apple gets the more likely they are to address an issue. I would have commented on some of your claims but I haven't used Quick Notes enough.. As a matter of fact, I just discovered FnQ brings up Quick Note on one third-party keyboard but not on another.

Hopefully someone will add something.

I gotcha, thanks! Apologies if I was impatient before,I think it was a combination of frustration with the feature and the way you can’t quite read into peoples tone online.

Sounds like the feature is indeed not very thought through. I’ve since kind of seen a thumbnail pop up, but only the very corner of it, the rest is off-screen. And doesn’t stay on long. Very easy to miss. So not completely broken, just maybe buggy?

Thanks, but I was asking hoping to see if it was just behaving this way for me, or if other people were seeing it too, and if maybe others knew of any way to get things working. I've used that feedback link before, and it mostly just feels like throwing feedback into a void; it rarely solves anything. I don't think simply replying with that feedback link is particularly helpful.

p.s. Before I replied to your post I read an article about using Quick Note on AppleInsider. To give you an idea of the problems one can run into, the article states…

"Creating Quick Notes with a keystroke

You can call up a new Quick Note by pressing a couple of keys on your keyboard. Unfortunately, the keys you are supposed to press are Function-Q. There's no Function key on a standard Apple Magic Keyboard. There are function keys, plural, but no Fn modifier the way there is, say, Shift, Command, or Option."

which is nonsense.
