Why iOS updates are stored on my main drive, dozen of big files. Why do they all except a few latest ones do not get deleted?

Yes, they're backups should you need to restore an iDevice, it's quite OK to delete the earlier ones...
For those that don\t know...
Look for iOS backups…
/Users/YourUserName/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup

Its iOS updates on my HD MAC. I have update files for the last 2 years a total 175 GB, wasted space
