How to remove .app from my applications?

A couple of months ago I was working on my computer and noticed I somehow accidentally added the extension .app to all of my applications. If I try to remove it, the applications will no longer work. My other mac's do not show this extension and it is a bit annoying. Is there a way to hide the .app from my applications?

How to uninstall an app from iMac Applications? How do I uninstall an app from iMac Applications? There is app of 'AnyDesk' installed and applied to the 'Applications'. I cannot move 'AnyDesk' to Trash directly, how should I do to uninstall it? Thanks.

How to remove apps from Monterey Launchpad After Monterey install I have a lot of apps in the launchpad with the circle/slash symbol. When clicked on the icon I get the message, "The developer of this app needs to update it to work with this version of macOS. Contact the developer for more information." How do I delete those items that are no longer supported? Hold click or option key gets a jiggle but no "X" and drag to Trash does nothing. I don't see them in the Application folder either.
