Vp9 codec

When will the vp9 codec be fixed on new Apple devices? iPad 9 gen on the latest firmware and with the latest update of the youtube app cuts the frame rate in any video with the vp9 codec in the wildest way.Same with twitch app. On iPhone XR with av1 codec, there is no such problem at all, everything is fine. According to reddit, I’m not only one with this kind of problem.

Sorry. I’m plumb out of ideas…

You might be best advised to seek assistance directly from from Apple Support. You can contact the Support Team using the Get Support link at top-right of this page.

Alternatively, you can initiate and manage your support cases using the excellent Apple Support App. If not already installed on your iPad, the App can be downloaded from the App Store:

Update:

Further research indicates that the VP9 codec has experimental support in iPadOS15 WebKit. Ensure that this feature is enabled:

Settings > Safari > Advanced > Experimental Features > VP9 Decoder - set to ON

NB: Beware of changing any other WebKit settings; this section of iPad settings does not have a “reset to defaults” option - and settings changes here can have significant impact upon operation of your iPad.
