iOS/iPadOS natively use a wireless print technology known as AirPrint. This uses WiFi - and not a wired USB connection to your iPad or iPhone.

if it does not it will only print if the manufacturer made a printing app for their printer

it will not print to usb only printers

about word then ms has office for ipads ‎Microsoft Office on the App Store (apple.com)

that being said one has to subscribe to their office 356 to use it as anything else than a viewer
