How am i supposed to turn it off if i cant touch the screen to click shut down?

My iPhone screen is unresponsive, but I can’t restart it because I cant slide the power off thing across the screen after I hold the buttons down on the side.

Are you sure you're performing the correct gestures to force restart your device?
