If I activate Do Not Disturb on my Mac, shouldn't it work across platforms? I mean should I continue to get pings on my phone or iPad or Taptics on my watch? Or do I have to activate Do Not Disturb on each platform, which seems pretty ridiculous? Is there any way to do make the function work everywhere?

The Focus feature is supposed to sync. However, if you are not running iOS 15, Focus is not available, so I wouldn't expect DND to activate on a pre-iOS 15 device when you activate the DND Focus on Monterey.
There is a checkbox on the Focus System prefs (and in iOS settings); it seems it has to be enabled on every device you want to sync.

It works just fine for me... UNLESS I am not connected to WiFi on my phone...
I just discovered this now, when looking at your post.
We're having a problem with our ISP and devices with IPv6 enabled, including phones.
To get around it, I just turned off WiFi on my phone. Now focus is not syncing with my MacBook. If I turn it back on, the focus syncs.

Thanks for This Barney. It seems to be on my default. It's switched on in iOS. I use Sleep and DND every day. It's also switched on in Mac Focus System Prefs.
I also think this on by default. I don't remember turning it on.
DND is not displayed as on on the iPhone.
