Cannot bring up control center in my ipad air 4 -latest iOS installed

Cannot bring up control center by swiping from top right hand side corner, no matter if it’s from a locked screen or an app screen. If i switch the ipad on and off it may come good for a few hours, but it goes back to not coming up.

Any swipe from the top in any position at the top always brings up the search window.

At my wits end. I want be able to lock creen or switch Bluetooth on and off.

A forced-restart of your iPad may be beneficial - as this will often resolve an isolated software issue:

On an iPad with a Home button: Press and hold the top button and the Home button at the same time. When the Apple logo appears, release both buttons.
On other iPad models: Press and quickly release the volume up button, press and quickly release the volume down button, then press and hold the top button. When the Apple logo appears, release the button.

I have done that and the control centre comes back but it only lasts a few hours.
