I need a replacement charger for my 17 inch 2009 MacBook Pro. Can anyone advise which one i need please

For local sources, you'd have to be very careful. Not widely available.

{I've already researched this, my 2 older MacBooks use exact same part.}

Check new replacement compatibility from reputable authorized reseller.

Be sure you've identified your build date year MacBook Pro 17-inch correct.

PS: Could be borderline; and show an incorrect part match up. The magnetic

ends may be wrong due to this factor. Both of my chargers are different YET

they can interchange; and are MagSafe1 85W.

Depending on where in the World you are, macsales OWC has

the official replacement model number (supersedes original)

and it also has a smaller magnetic plug on MagSafe1 adapter.

They have global affiliates; fairly good prices. Even from AK.

UPS, FedEx, US Mail, et al. ~ Call, chat, email, etc & ask them.

[Since 2016, answer has been the same: Has a newer part #.]

You probably won't find that exact item by older depreciated #.

you need to get 85W MagSafe(T-type) adapter.

My advice is to buy an Apple brand that duplicates the one that came with the computer.

Per the MacTracker database (free in the Mac App Store), that MBP model's charger is an MA938LL/A
