Mac Pro is a desktop — this would be an external keyboard and trackpad

On a MacBook or MacBook Pro— if you are having an internal issue on an "Intel" Mac you can try both:

Try resetting the SMC https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201295

Try resetting NVRAM/PRAM http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1379

(get at least two-three rounds of the chimes when holding the NRAM Reset)

If no resolve one work around would be an external keyboard, external magic trackpad if you can get them to register.

In or out of warranty you can get a free over the counter 'Apple Service Diagnostics' test /assessment

Make an appointment for a "hardware issue"—
