Timeline Roles load while playing

Hi everyone! new FCPX user here!

so I just moved from premiere pro to final cut pro and I am used to play the video and move around the timeline at the same time. but when I am doing the same in final cut pro, it's making all the roles in "loading mode" which makes it impossible to know where it is going or to see the audio waveforms. and the roles don't load at all till I pause the video. so it makes it super annoying to play a bit then pause.

am I doing anything wrong or is there a way to make the roles not load or load faster while playing the video.

I don't understand what you mean by "making all the roles in loading mode". Can explain? Maybe post a screenshot.

Regarding the drawing of waveforms: by default, FCP does not draw until you pause, but you can use the free tool CommandPost to activate this, and also to make the timeline scroll automatically when playing back.

The filmstrips and the waveforms? They take quite a lot of horsepower, especially graphics horsepower, to draw. They will not redraw during playback as the application puts all available resources into that.

If you feel that this is important to have, try the solution I posted above.

CommandPost CAN turn these features on.

I DOWNLOADED IT AND IT WORKED! I turned on enable rending while playback and IT OWRKED! OMG I've been looking for it for over 5 hours! thank you so much!

well, I can do it on imovie on the same laptop (macbook pro 14" with M1 pro)

and premiere can do it on my old windows laptop... I think it's either a bug or something in the settings.

I've been looking all over the internet :/ and I haven't found a way to fix it.

iMovie isn't designed to do a quarter of what FCP is prepared to do at any time when it's playing back. I have been using this application for 10 years. I know how it works, but maybe it'll work differently on your system.

so it will never be able to load the waveforms at least while playing and moving around the timeline? I am used to play the video and go around the timeline to find the next clip (by looking at the waveform) that I want to cut out.

it happens when the video is playing and I move around the timeline or zoom in and out! and it only goes back to normal when I pause :/
