WPS is in software via the airport utility. There is no physical button. Remember Steve hated buttons.

You need to have the airport setup open in the background.. go to the top menu Base Station and then

Add WPS Printer

Don't over worry about the printer bit.. it works for any WPS.. just Apple does not recognise there are other manufacturers of products like extenders. In the Apple walled garden there is only Apple.

Our experience is that pin method works.. poorly.. use First attempt, which will keep the WPS alive for about 1min.

Note .. extenders work poorly with Airports in our experience.

Extenders mess up networking because all clients on the other side of the extender are hidden from the main Apple router.

You must use wifi names that conform to PC rules.. ie short, no spaces and pure alphanumerics. And most important passwords also follow those rules but can be longer.. much longer if your paranoia level is high.

The best extender for Apple Airports is another Airport.. by a factor of about 2000%

Since it is built into the Automated setup wizard in Airport Utility.

Also note all extenders (even Apple Extend wireless function) will use at least half of your wifi bandwidth. It is the nature of the beastie.. and that is at its best. At worst it will slow wireless by factor of about 3-5 times. It can also work poorly and become unreliable even with Apple Extend Wireless.. you need to reboot all the wifi network devices up to daily for it to work. Use ethernet backhaul if at all possible as it eliminates all these bad effects.

It is far far better to buy new Mesh products.. particularly triband mesh that uses separate backhaul channel. It is far more reliable than old Extend wireless model since it is built from ground up to mesh properly.

Some cheaper mesh products can handle ethernet backhaul which makes them far better than more expensive units.
