Is there a reason my new Macbook Pro doesn't have Word or Excel?

I have transferred all my files from my 2013 Macbook Pro to my new Macbook Pro but it doesn't come with Word or Excel and is saying I have to buy it. I bought it when I got my last computer and now it's saying they can't find record of it. Any suggestions on how to get it without having to buy it again?

Thanks so much.

Update your third party software if you need Word & Excel

Office for Mac running macOS Catalina

If you have Office 2011 for Mac or before WILL NOT run, For Catalina Office 2016 for Mac needs to be v15.35 or later.

Big Sur compatibility—Microsoft recently announced that it was officially ending support for Office 2016 for Mac on October 13, 2020. Apple Silicon compatibility in Office 2016 is questionable. Office 2019 no issues.

The current Office for Mac; Office 365 or Office 2019 (One-time purchase) are OK with Catalina/Big Sur

Apple supplies very good word processor/layout software called Pages, and very good spreadsheet software called Numbers, installed on your new computer, free. These can be cajoled into reading and writing microsoft file formats.

word an excel are Microsoft products. as far as Apple is concerned they are aftermarket add-on from another vendor. talk to Microsoft about it.

Hi,

I suppose your Word and Excel which are running on old MacBook Pro are 32bit Applications which aren't supported on new MacBook Pro any more, even if you installed Rosetta 2, so you would need to purchase them again, though if they could upgrade to 64bit, you wouldn't need to purchase them again.
