Why do my display rotation settings keep switching between my two monitors?

I have 2 monitors connected to my Mac mini, 1 via HDMI and 1 via Lightning cable. The one connected via HDMI is my primary screen with no rotation. My secondary screen, connected via lightning cable, is rotated 270 degrees. Every time I log out, lock my screen, restart my computer, or shut down and turn back on, my screen rotation switches between the two screens - (270 degrees for my primary screen & 0 degrees for my secondary screen). Is there a way I can lock the rotation settings? Or how do I prevent the settings from constantly switching?

Hi vandries,

Do you have any installed additional monitor/display software that could be causing the issue?

You don't say what model of Mac mini you're on; but I am going to assume an Intel (as it is what I have and am familiar with). To that end, have you any Login Items that might be causing the conflict? Have you tried rebooting with a new Thunderbolt cable and/or switched ports on the Mac mini and see if it is port related?

Have you considered restarting into Safe mode and possible also rebooted and done an NVRAM/PRAM reset?

Could it also be that the respective cable seatings into each monitor from your Mac mini are possibly a little loose? Have you tried removing and reseating them?

Give the above a review and try and post back, if they don't resolve your issues.

Cheers,

Anthony
