Apple News audio on iPad

Can someone please explain why Apple News audio is not supported on the iPad? Please provide an explanation and don’t just state that it is only supported on iPhone, iPod Touch, and CarPlay. It seems like a simple addition and not having this feature on iPad is not consumer friendly unless someone explains a valid reason.
