Safari in the way
I have tried to update system to macOS Monterey but Safari will not quit for the install to be complete. I have tried to force quit, but "Quit Safari" is grayed out. Any ideas?

With all other apps quit, press and hold the power button to force a hard shutdown.

Third time's a charm- it worked!!
Press—and hold—forces the Mac to shut down hard.
You will need to hold the power button for ~ten seconds.
But youmseem to have gotten around whatever had Safari wedged.
