AirPods random name change

I have owned my AirPods for a few years and recently noticed the right bud does not work properly, left bud works fine. When attempting to forget the device then reconnect, the name of my AirPods appears as “XES@g”. When researching this name, pornographic materials returned in my search. Is it possible my AirPods have been compromised in some way? How can I fix this?

It is extremely unlikely the name issue is anything more than your iPhone getting the device name wrong, and the association with a dodgy site is pure coincidence. To resolve this I suggest the clean sweep approach, simply follow the reset procedure in How to reset your AirPods and AirPods Pro - Apple Support and start with everything cleaned up.
