FaceTime on an iMac seems to be configured to work (mostly) but there is a slight delta in the UI. The UI has 2 links at top left of interface 'Create Link' & 'New FaceTime'. New FaceTime does not work but I can click on the recent call list and that does work. When I try new FaceTime the suggested list populates but the 'FaceTime' button has different TXT and is always grayed out. TXT = Invite using FaceTime Link.

Anyone know why? and the solution to get it to work normally again?

Thanks in advance

There is a solution. You ahve to use the same iCloud account on your mac and your iPhone

The reason it was happening was related to your iPhone settings. Check and change as needed the settings on your iPhone

  • iPhone settings - cellular - calls on other devices - Allow Calls on other devices
  • iPhone settings - cellular - calls on other devices - Enable the 'mac' listed under 'allow calls on'

Once this is completed face time should no longer display the ~'invite via link' msg and it should be 'facetime'

Please remember that if you are not picking from your contact list and typing in a phone number hit 'enter after you have typed it in. The 'facetime' button will remain grayed out until you hit 'enter'

GL and hope that helps

Truly disappointing response.

  1. It does not make any mention of my shift in the typical IU
  2. It does not list any reason why this might correct the issue
  3. It is what I would expect from a tier I technician who has '0' clue what they are doing and can barely type a valid query into a database used by the support team.

I'll ignore this suggestion for now. Any others out there who have seen this behavior

BTW I am running the latest version of the Mac OS (Monterey I believe

Thanks in advance

JakeSpeed1966 I am wondering whether you managed to resolve this issue. I have recently purchased my wife an iPhone 13 Pro and have the same links as you have mentioned, 'Create Links' and 'New Facetime', however when I select New FaceTime and type a name in the 'To' section and enter that name, I only get the green 'Invite with Messages' option. Would be most grateful if you have any suggestions to resolve this.

Kindest Regards Harry
