Apple Music error unsupported URL

Apple Music error unsupported URL

I receive this error every day.

Over and over again sometimes up to 10 times in a row. Once the error starts it won’t be continual but it will continue to happen randomly. At some point a song will play. But also at some point the unsupported URL will happen again. The one artist it seems to happen the most for me is Stone Temple pilots. It just happened on Radiohead and this image is of Silversun pick ups.

The error can happen right away at the beginning of playing a song or it could happen randomly in the middle of a song or the song will not engage be silent and then error.

Anyone else have this issue?

I have been experiencing the same problem over the last few months. Music just randomly stops streaming. I receive the “unsupported url” error sometimes; most times it just stops playing. Skipping the track usually brings the music back, but it’s really annoying when you’re in the middle of something (party, working, etc). Seems like I can’t get through 5-10 songs without this happening.

Most of the time I am on my home WiFi and playing through my Sonos system.

I have tried all three suggestions above. These seem to be temporary fixes; the problem consistently comes back.

I’ve been an Apple Music subscriber for 10 years and this is the first problem I’ve encountered. Please help fix this very annoying issue!

Hi. This has been an ongoing issue for me too with iPhone 8, iPhone 12, and iPhone 12 pro. At the 15 seconds mark, about 15% of songs just stop. The whole thing pauses for 10 seconds, then it skips to the next song with the "unsupported url" message. Happens on wifi, on the network, with wired headphones and bluetooth players/headphones, all.the.effing.time.

This is an Apple Music glitch, no question.

The only workaround that works consistently for me is to disable "Lossless Audio" in the Audio Quality settings of the Music app. But let's be serious, Apple: selling a premium music service that is only reliable when the premium features are disabled is... flawed.

I am also experiencing the same issue. It seems to have started happening when I upgraded to iOS 15. It happens from my HomePods at home, my phone both on wifi and cellular and also my CarPlay when I am out and about. It has become very annoying because it is so sporadic. I have also tried the above recommendations to fix and the problem comes back for me also. Please help!!!

Hi theelysium,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities. We understand that you are seeing an unsupported URL alert when playing songs in Apple Music and we'd like to assist.

Do you see this message when playing through the internal speakers?

Does it happen on other Wi-Fi networks or cellar data?

Feel free to post an update if this persists.

We hope this helps.

Cheers!

I am having exactly the same problem. It happens regardless of method being used to play music (Cellular, WiFi) or speaker.

It happens completely at random…using my custom playlists, Apple Music playlists or ‘my station’ on Listen Now.

Sometimes I will go a whole day with no error and sometimes I’ll get the error 10 times in 15 songs.

iPhone 12 Pro Max on iOS 15. Problem started with iOS 15.

It happens all the time I can recall specifically In the car using BT to Mazda Stereo & walking outside using AirPods 3rd Gen.

Sometime it will be several artists in a row. Several songs in a row. It has not happen this week or past weekend.

The error will lull, but then come back with a repeat vengeance... like Miss me...!!! Wahahaha.

It also only happens to me in NorCal.

Same thing happening here (UK, iPhone 12 mini iOS 15.0.2) on various albums, etc

Apple Music is borked. I have this problem on any Bluetooth device as well as HomePods and have reset this, reset that, etc etc (not my first rodeo and all that).

I can't be certain but it seems Apple Music started to get glitchy when it went lossless. Unfortunately, I don't have time to do Apple's user testing for them.

Same albums work flawlessly on Spotify streaming to the same Bluetooth speakers. 🤦🏼‍♂️
