Applecare Internatinal buy

Seems Applecare isn't an International coverage. I have to buy the coverage in same country I bought the iPhone. So I live in Singapore, but bought the phone in France, and can't buy a Applecare coverage. Very weird for an International brand like Apple. Or am I wrong?

Hi,

Did you even click on the links I put in here previously? Because if you did, you would have seen the T&C for Singapore, the pricing for Service, and the available Service Types for that region.

Hi ManuSG,

It appears you have questions about using AppleCare+ internationally. Different countries or regions may have different or limited service options available. You can read more about AppleCare+ in Singapore here: AppleCare Products - iPhone - Apple (SG)

Also, check out this information below from the warranty for Singapore: Legal - iOS Warranty Rest Of APAC English - Apple

"Service will be limited to the options available in the country where service is requested. Service options, parts availability and response times may vary according to country. Apple may use Apple Products or replacement parts for service that are sourced from a country that is different from the country from which the Apple Product or original parts were sourced. You may be responsible for shipping and handling charges if the Apple Product cannot be serviced in the country it is in. If you seek service in a country that is not the original country of purchase, you will comply with all applicable import and export laws and regulations and be responsible for all custom duties, V.A.T. and other associated taxes and charges. Where international service is available, Apple may repair or replace Apple Products and parts with comparable Apple Products and parts that comply with local standards."

If you have any further questions about service or coverage, you can contact Apple Support for further assistance here: Contact Apple Support

Best wishes.

Hi,

You are partially correct; you do have to purchase your AC+ agreement in the country/region where the product was originally purchased.

However, the product is eligible for service in other regions, and you must pay for service in that regions currency, as referenced in the Terms & Conditions:

”Please note that if you seek service under this Plan in a country other than your country of purchase, the service fee will need to be paid in that country’s currency and at that country’s applicable rate – for further details, including regarding applicable fees by country, please visit the AppleCare+ support website at apple.com/legal/sales-support/applecare/applecareplus/“

That has always been the case regarding iPhones.

iPhones are region specific, since cellular carriers in different countries use different frequencies or have different legal requirements.

One example is the US iPhone is the only one with mm wave antennas.

Another would be the UAE requiring FaceTime be disabled.

I’m not sure what you mean as it does not make sense.

You would not purchase the AC+ in Singapore, you would purchase it in France. The product was purchased in France therefore the AC+ agreement tied to it would be purchased in FRANCE as well.

When I say “you would purchase it in France” I don’t mean that you physically have to go back within the city limits of France just to purchase the AC+ for the product.

You simply PAY for the AC+ with a valid payment method that is associated/has a billing address tied to FRANCE. The AC+ agreement type sold to that serial number would be a French AC+ agreement, exclusive to that region; FRANCE.

Now, in the event you travelled to another region & something happens to the product that requires service, you would explore available service options for that region, choose the preferred, then get the product serviced, paying for the repair with the countries currency that you are currently in,

Maybe it makes no sense as you didn't read the beginning?

So I live in Singapore.. I purchased an iPhone and Applecare in France because my phone died while traveling. When I go back to my country, I won't be able to replace my screen using AppleCare as Applecare coverage is limited to the country u buy it. So I will have to fly back to France to replace my screen. Very surprised when I thought Apple was a truly International brand able to support travellers.

No, AppleCare+ only has to be purchased in the same region as the product.

Service Options are available wherever offered, as I stated previously when quoting the T&C:

”Please note that if you seek service under this Plan in a country other than your country of purchase, the service fee will need to be paid in that country’s currency and at that country’s applicable rate – for further details, including regarding applicable fees by country, please visit the AppleCare+ support website at apple.com/legal/sales-support/applecare/applecareplus/“

In other words, as long as you have your AC+ plan purchased for the product, you can get service done on the product in all eligible regions that offer service for that product.

If I purchased my iPhone & AC+ in the US, travelled to Singapore for vacation and dropped my phone, the screen cracks, then I would simply set up a service request in Singapore to have it repaired, paying for the service in Singapore’s currency and the fees associated to the service for having it repaired while in Singapore. I’m not sure how else I can convey this.

That isn’t completely true. Only basic repairs can be done outside of the country of purchase: Screen repair and battery replacement. Any other defects can only be fixed in the country of purchase, because phones have different components in different regions, and a local Apple facility will not have the parts to make other repairs. In fact, except for screen and battery replacement Apple replaces the whole phone, and sends the defective phone to a central facility for repair and refurbishing. And a store in Singapore will not have a replacement phone to match a phone purchased in France.

One exception, which isn’t useful in Singapore, is that a phone purchased in France will be covered for warranty and repair in any EU member country, as the EU is one service region.
