iPhone se 1st gen after updating to ios15.1 - battery is draining drastically AND unable to activate touch id on this iphone

once after updating to ios15.1 in my iPhone SE 1st gen, battery is getting drained unusually fast.

and many other accompanied issues like,

fingerprint stopped working with a tricky message "unable to activate touch id on this iphone"

and just opening a webpage on safari for a minute is draining battery about 5% and for a phone call for a minute drains 5% to 7%.

I tried all possible ways to troubleshoot.

for using a iphone, why does apple thinks everyone wants to be an engineer?

and there is no way to restore it to previous versions of ios.

and if the version is unstable to a specific iphone model, why apple is releasing it to public??

is this apple's trick to force users to upgrade their mobiles.

if this doesnt sorted out, this phone could be used only as a "paper weight"

PFA (I have charged the mobile to 100% at 3AM and kept it idle and it drained to 0% at 9AM, IS THIS FAIR??

I need proper response from apple team.

Hi jaleel27,

Thank you for posting in Apple Support Communities. From our understanding you're iPhone SE battery is draining faster than usual, is that right? We'd like to let you know this is a user to user community so if your would like to speak to Apple directly, you'll need to reach out to Apple Support directly. We can help provide some possible resolutions or isolate the issue.

What is your battery's maximum capacity? You can confirm by going to Settings > Battery > Battery Health.

iPhone Battery and Performance

If under 80%, you may want to look into a battery replacement. Depending on your region, you can reach out to Apple support here: Get Support.

Hope that helps!

jaleel27,

Thank you for that screenshot. An 84% capacity is fairly low and you'll probably need to have that battery replaced soon. It looks like WhatsApp uses most of your battery life based on the screenshots above. You may want to confirm there are no app updates available that may need to be installed.

First check your battery for Self-Discharge - User Tip

Check iphone battery for self discharge

There may be apps that are inherently incompatible with the new iOS

Start by removing any VPN or security apps. Apart from being totally unnecessary they are also a strong contender.

Many mainstream apps need an urgent update, fir example NextDoor so go to App Store and scan through your apps for those that need updating.

While there, uninstall any apps you haven't used for some time. They are unnecessary update burden.

Any streaming apps or apps that can run with phone closed, or Clocks that hold the phone unlocked, always force close them afterwards, despite the accepted wisdom not to.

Only after all that do you need to do the simple stuff advised in

iPhone Battery and Performance - Apple Support

In extreme cases you can backup and restore to factory. Check battery behaviour for a day.

I had charged to 100% and switched off and kept idle for 8 hours as you mentioned to test out self-discharge. When I switched on I got shocked, the battery percentage was at 77% (please find the attachment)

@LD150 - what is then draining my battery even its turned off. how to resolve this. your help is much appreciated.

THANKS IN ADVANCE

I am confused a day before update everything was properly functioning.

once after the update all problems started showing up one by one.

like

*battery draining

*unable to activate touch id on this iphone

not only on usage time, even its kept idle and backgroud app refresh is turned off and airplane mode is on, still the battery is going down from 100% to 0% in less than 5 hrs.

this must be because of ios version update issue

and there is no way to roll back to previous version as the sigining of older versions is closed from apple.
