Old (deleted) contact phone number still appears on iMessage (Mac, but. not iPhone)
This is an issue that I've been dealing with since Big Sur and Catalina. And it remains on Monterey. I don't have this issue on iOS, only macOS. All devices are up to date. I have a contact whose landline number I deleted from their contact field (they moved and disconnected the number). When I type in their name on iMessage (macOS) two contact numbers appear. The top one in green with the old landline number (which I'm trying to have no longer appear) and their current iPhone number in blue below that.
I have tried deleting the contact all together. That does not work. I then re-add the contact with the correct info. That does not work. The number will always appear.
Several versions ago, if I had anything remotely like this issue, I could go to my iPhone and simply type the number, hit blue "i" next to the name and delete it from the recents and that took care of it on all devices.
This is really annoying because if I am quickly typing a text to this person, I often just click return when their name auto-fills and their deleted landline is populated. I cannot figure out how to get rid of this.
