Changing contacts photo has issue

As the subject meaning, when I'm trying to change my contact's photo of my friend. It's not completed as expected. The photo didn't change. Following is my step.

Going to contacts -> choose my friend phone number -> edit it's photo -> choose picture from library -> zoom and scale to the right positions -> click done --> click done again and complete the progress. The photo has been taken successfully. -> close contacts app -> open it and check the previously contact's photo. The result is: the photo didn't change correctly, sometimes it will be the original photo (without zoom and scale on the right position), sometime it's not applied with the picture I already chosen. I'm using iOS 15.1. Is that a bug or I has any mistakes with this progress?

Thank for any advice or information about this.

Regard.

iPhone XR, iOS 15

Hello AntonyThong,

Thank you for posting in the Apple Support Communities. We're sorry to see that you've been unable to change photos assigned to your contacts, and we have a few steps in mind that might help.

First, examine whether this happens with all contacts and with all photos, or only if it happens with a particular contact or photo. Taking these steps might provide you with additional clues.

Edit contacts on iPhone

Also, consider how those contacts were originally synced to your iPhone, and whether they're synced to another device signed in with your Apple ID. For instance, if your contacts are synced from an email account (i.e. Gmail, Exchange, etc.), see if you can change the contact's photo on the web version of those accounts. Also, if you use iCloud Contacts and sync them to another iOS, iPadOS, or macOS device, try changing the photo on that other device.

For additional testing purposes, try creating a new test contact in the Contacts app on your iPhone, then change that contact's photo with a photo taken with the Camera app. This step can help determine if locally created contacts save correctly.

Add and use contact information on iPhone

Kind regards.
