Ipad Air 4 display has purple wavy lines

I have an Ipad Air 4 which is only 2 months old, in the last 2 days I am seeing purple wavy lines appearing around icons in the top quarter of the screen when used in landscape mode on the side where the pencil charges. All updates have been done. Strangely they do not show up if I take a screenshot. Anyone have any ideas please? Sorry about the images below but you can faintly see them on the 123 and keyboard key, they also move around so doesn't seem to be pixels.

We, just users like you, cannot diagnose that issue remotely, sorry.

Since your device is still covered by warranty, I suggest that you make an appointment (*) and have your device inspected at an Apple Store or AASP (Apple Authorized Service Provider) among this list:--> Apple – Location Selector. After checking it out, they'll give you all the available options.

By your account, you have already performed the most effective diagnostic that is available to you. A reliable method to confirm a screen/display hardware fault is to take a screenshot when the fault is evident - and then review the captured screenshot image. When reviewed, if the defect is not present in the screenshot image, then you have demonstrated that you have a hardware fault that requires repair. If the perceived defect is visible in the screenshot, then something other than hardware will be the cause.

NB: When reviewing the image, rotating the iPad screen orientation by 90°, from Portrait to Landscape, will ensure that the image does not coincide with screen defects if present.

Given your description, you have demonstrated that you do have a screen hardware fault. As such, the very best advice would be for you to visit the Genius Bar at your local Apple Store or Apple Authorised Service Provider - where the technicians will be able to test, assess and offer advice/options for repair or replacement.

Sorry about that.

The only steps I can suggest you are:

Try a "forced" restart of your iPad, using these instructions:

  • On an iPad with a Home button: Press and hold the top (power) button and the Home button at the same time. When the Apple logo appears, release both buttons.
  • On other iPad models: Press and quickly release the volume up button, press and quickly release the volume down button, then press and hold the top (power) button. Only when the Apple logo appears (it might take 15-30 seconds), release that button (ignore all other screens that might appear).

If the issue persists, go to Settings>Accessibility>Display & Text Size. Try to diasable ALL options (except the last one "AutoBrightness" at the very bottom. When done, restart your device.

If the issue still persists, contact Apple Support directly, using this link:--> Get Support

Thanks for your comment. It makes sense and yes when screenshot is taken the fault does not show. Unfortunately, in my country there is no official apple service centre so I will just have to take it back to where I bought it and ask them to send it to apple.
