Exporting RAW photo files

I am currently running Monterey 12.0.1 on a 2020 MacBook Pro with the Apple M1 chip. I can upload JPG and RAW files into Photos and use the Photos editing on the RAW files without issue. When I try to export the original RAW file to an external hard drive I get an error. Sometime "unknown error", sometime "cocoa-1" error. Sometimes the RAW file exports without issue (but this is few and far between). I have tried doing the export by going to File>Export>Export Original Unmodified and also holding the Option button while dragging the photo to the external drive. I have experienced errors in each. This error first arose a couple of months ago. Before then I had no issues exporting original RAW files. Any advice? Thank you.
