The ability to make selections for the type of connection you wish to use is dependent on your carrier. They provide the carrier file that controls those cellular selections. If your phone does not display 3G, that would mean that your carrier is not providing 3G service.

I have informed the UK server provider of the problem, they have tested it the system their end and they said it’s working okay, but because I’m in Barbados most of the island is 3G, my partner has a phone and she is picking up 3G service, where do I go from here
If the phone can not find an LTE (4G) signal, it should automatically fall back to 3G.
You won't be able to force it to do so since your carrier has removed that option.
