My 4k video clips are not in 4k on Final Cut Pro?

I created a Final Cut Pro project in 4k and all of my videos were filmed in 4k on my iPhone. However when I add those video clips to my FCP project, they all come out as 1280x720. How do I make sure they are all in 4k?

When you create a new project, by default the project will take on the attributes of the first clip or image that you bring into the project. Open your project and copy the entire timeline. Then create a new project but click the Use Custom Settings and change Video to 4K. Then, paste the timeline into this new one. Should be 4K now.

If you're new to FCP, I recommend viewing the free Izzy Video tutorials--they will save you from lots of frustration and hours of wasted time.
