Apple Watch

My son has the iPhone 12 on ID mobile network and he has asked for an Apple Watch for Xmas. On looking am I right thinking ID doesn’t support Apple Watch yet? But does it matter where I get it as he doesn’t want a sim in so he can leave iPhone at home and use watch he just wants the basic so he can use watch whilst phone with him.How would I go about getting him one much needed help please .

If he wants the GPS-only version, it doesn't matter what carrier you use for the iPhone. A GPS-only watch can do everything a GPS+Cellular watch does as long as the paired iPhone is nearby. You can start shopping here:

Some carriers don’t support it, so it’s best to check with them directly.

You can get GPS or GPS + Cellular models. The latter would need to use the same carrier the iphone is on for cellular to be activated. The cellular plan gets added to the iPhone cellular plan at about $10 extra a month. You don’t need to activate though. It would then work just like a GPS Model. The GPS model does require the phone to be nearby if you want to use it with your phone to make or receive calls and texts but wifi calling needs to be enabled on the iPhone and supported by the carrier for that. The cellular model lets you use it as a phone without the phone being nearby. If he never wants to use as a phone, the GPS model would suffice.
