an upgrade installation question
If you didn't upload to Big Sur, do need to before upgrading to Monterey? I currently have Mac OS Catalina Installed (10.15.7 version)

newer Mac; should a reach to get Monterey, be too far for old Mac's hardware..

The 'compatibility' issues may include your build model year and configuration.
Or, something important may be left out of the equation. A lot of tiny details..?!
Big Sur may be a last stop; if not Catalina, for the MacBook Pro.. esp. if one listed.
