reminders empty

My macOS' reminders became empty. the reminders are iCloud connected. no reminders, no "home", "work' etc. too.

Adding to that, I can't create any reminder/ list on macOS, in Short, it looks hanging (but not).

iCloud.com web version, two iOS and iPadOS Reminders are OK, so the data exists on iCloud.

When iCloud check off, but Reminders doesn't work locally too (still looks hanginb, but off cource not)

iCloud check off - check on doesn't work.

when:

I re-installed macOS Monterey. Then restore every thing from Time Machine. the backup was made just before re-install (so not old incompatible version)

How should I do?

Hey there ogawa9,

From the issues outlined in your last message, the most pertinent to address as it affects the entire system is your Mac restarting itself. This link has some steps to try: If your Mac restarted because of a problem

Let's now move forward with the issue made for this post. Based on the details you provided, along with the steps tried so far, we do recommend contacting Apple next: Get Support

Have a good one!

Hello ogawa9,

Thanks of the screenshots, as we agree, this isn't expected behavior for that screen to be completely blank.

While you may need to get in touch with Apple, we first wanted to confirm a few new details, along with some that were asked previously:

  1. You mentioned that the current issue wasn't the reason, but what was the reason that you restored your Mac?
  2. Is macOS 12.0.1 the version number currently installed when you checked earlier?
  3. Did this occur immediately after restoring from the backup, or did you test for this issue while your Mac was set up as new?

We look forward to hearing about the three details above in your next message. Take care until then!

  1. A few days ago (or some thing like that), one USB external HDD that is used on one year without a problem suddenly occasionally becomes "empty" just after wake-up (yes, sleeping is needed condition). can't eject (so can't re-mount). In fact nothing lost, just my imac can't see any files on it. So some applications using files on the drive say "broken files" or "can't find some thing". But restarking the mac resumes it. Everything fine. but one sleep, some times files can't be seen (not 100% always, but very often) So PowerNap Time Machine also fails some times with "can't make some snapshot" like that. So drive's utility says S.M.A.R.T is OK. So I decided to re-install macOS. ( after story. the phenomenon is not resolved. I replaced the external drive. but in vain! this found yesterday. that was one of the reason my response was slow)
  2. YES 12.0.1 I installed it the day it released. I used this mac almost 24h/day when I'm in home. (when out, I have my iPhone) Reminders is one of my vital application (:-)
  3. Immediately. Just after restart. Reminders is one of my "start up items", so just after restart, it always runs. And then I found Reminders is empty.

I found that Calender's search isn't working. Calender is working fine. Add/Delete/Modifying the event from iPhone is well syncing. iCloud.com too. but I can't search any event with my mac Calender. On my iPhone, I can search. Contacts is OK.

and imac began to kernel panic some times (mainly when sleeping. because when I use I only experience kernel panice once.)

So my six years imac seems broken. Isn't it?

Hi ogawa9,

We'd like to help get your Mac syncing correctly with iCloud Reminders just like your other devices.

You mentioned recently restoring your Mac from a Time Machine backup, but it wasn't clear if the issue remained. Does the issue still persist?

If it does, do you get any error messages when attempting to use Reminders on your Mac?

As you mentioned reinstalling macOS Monterey, the latest version is macOS 12.0.1. You can verify this by clicking on the Apple logo at the top left corner of the screen, then on ‘About This Mac’.

Cheers!

Had the same problem on my new 2021 MBP 16 restored from a previous time machine.

Went with Apple support on the phone, we restored user home permissions, reinstalled Monterey and also performed a few tests in safe mode, none of this solved the problem.

In the end I tried to perform a clean install without restoring from time machine and voilà, solved.

I understand this may be not a simple solution for everyone, personally I have 90% of my data on the cloud so it was quite easy for me but YMMV.

Hope this helps, have been looking for a solution for a week. :)
